Western civilization is history's greatest achievement. Of course it
makes mistakes, and gets things wrong. But it has a self-correcting
mechanism -- democracy -- that no other civilization can match. All
civilizations had slavery, but it was Western civilization that said this
was wrong and abolished slavery. All civilizations treated women badly,
but it was Western civilization that said this was wrong, and set a course
